FESTIVAL PROGRAM APPLICATION FORMS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 42ND GREEK FESTIVAL OF SYDNEY
The Greek Festival of Sydney, an initiative of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW, has played a key role in providing a forum for showcasing a multitude of Greek and multi-cultural expressions for 42 years. The Greek Festival at Darling Harbour attracts over 80,000 people who are treated to a day of fine food, Greek festivities and quality live entertainment, including a performance by an international vocalist.
The Greek Festival of Sydney is an annual arts and cultural festival which runs between late February and May. The Festival’s program is varied, comprising of music and dance concerts, lectures, exhibitions, forums, workshops, theatre performances, film screenings, book launches and food events.
The Greek Festival of Sydney 2024 will be celebrating its 42nd year and we are looking for stand out applications to be included in the 2024 Greek Festival cultural program. Since its inception, the Festival has seen a vast increase in the diversity of the program of events, largely due to the emergence of second and third generation Greek-Australians within the Australian artistic and cultural scene. Greek culture is becoming more and more entrenched in contemporary and mainstream Australian culture and the Festival is committed to recognition of this through its program of events.
The Greek Festival is seeking applications and expressions of interest from all areas of the Australian, Greek and Greek-Australian arts and cultural community with links to ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary Greek culture. Event proposals are requested from all artists and groups who are involved in the areas of sport, theatre, music, dance, literature, film, comedy, visual arts, design, crafts, food and wine, history and education and any other area that falls under the arts or cultural ‘umbrella’.
The Greek Festival of Sydney encourages applications from all other cultural groups who have proposals that could enrich its’ program and provide a fresh perspective on any mutual cultural links.
All applications must be received at the Festival office by 5pm, Friday 8th December, 2023.
The Greek Festival of NSW is funded by the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales. For further information on the Festival please do not hesitate to refer to our website greekfestivalofsydney.com.au or contact our Festival Event Coordinator.
