The Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV) is the longest-standing representative institution of the Greek diaspora in Australia and a timeless point of reference and rallying point. It has pioneered the establishment of Orthodox churches and Greek language afterhours schools, offered social welfare services, conducted fundraisers for Greek and Australian national causes, organized events promoting Greek culture and national anniversaries, and acquired significant real estate assets. This book covers the historical period from the Community’s founding at end of the 19th century until the early 1970s.
