In August 480 BC, the Spartans fought to the death against the Persians at Thermopylae. In September 480 BC, the Greeks defeated the Persians at Salamis and in doing so changed the course of world history! The Golden Age of Athens followed, creating the pinnacle of western classical culture, and Europe as we know it today.

The year 2020 marks 2,500 years from these events and the Hellenic Lyceum is participating in their global commemoration with a unique multi-media production – academic talks (armour and weapons), visual art, dance, theatre, and a tribute to our Australian Defence Forces who defended the Thermopylae Pass during WWII.
